The holidays are one of our favorite times to support fellow sustainable and conscious-minded makers and artisans whose products we love. Here. Debra and I have chosen the twelve items on our wish list this year.
Debra's Picks:
1. The Perfect Dress
Love this "go anywhere, do anything" indigo (my favoroite color) dress crafted from 100% organic cotton satine. Not many designers create such wearable dresses like this one! Perfect length and I love (and appreciate) the long sleeves. Available from Kaight.
2. A Book That Can Change The Way I Do and See Things
I'd love to read Natural Color: Vibrant Plant Dye Projects for Your Home and Wardrobe by Sasha Duerr which contains a beautifully photographed guide to the full range of plant dyes available, drawn from commonly found fruits, flowers, trees, and herbs. It also includes step by step instructions and techniques for individual projects that I would like to try! Available at independent book stores as well as Barnes & Noble, IBooks, IndieBound and Amazon. Shop here.
3. Bi-Monthly Subscription Box from Love Goodly
The founders of Love Goodly are two moms on a mission to keep toxic chemicals our of what we put on our bodies and the bodies of our children. Scary fact: "The average woman uses 168 chemicals in their personal care every day and up to 60% of what we put on our skin gets absorbed into our bloodstream." As a result, they created a company that only sells cruelty-free, organic, non-gmo, eco-friendly and vegan beauty and wellness products. I like the bi-monthly subscription box because 1. Its really fun to open because you never know what will be inside and 2. You never have to worry whether or not its safe to put on your skin. 3. for $30 you get $80 worth of really good stuff!

4. Organic Cotton Flannel Pajamas
I am a fool for a good pair of flannel pajamas. I live in them all winter long and am so happy that I so often work from home so I can stay in them as long as possible on those cold (53 degree) winter mornings! However, finding a good, organic cotton pair that is as cute as it is sustainable, is not that easy. Leave it to Eileen Fisher to lead the way. I found this cute and cozy pair on Garnett Hill. Shop here.
5. Zip Around Wallet in Pony
What can I say, except " I love this wallet?" It makes me really happy to look at it but I have no idea why other than it's so small, so soft and a bit whimsical. Like our belt bags, it holds just what you really need, and nothing more: your driver's license, a few credit cards, your AAA card, health insurance card and possibly a few bills in cash. And of course, it is made out of sustainable materials, in this case, recycled polyester and plastic bottles. Shop here.

6. DAMA Bodysuit
12. Santa Barbara Round Blanket by Fair Seas Supply
These multi-functional, organic cotton throws serve as a blanket in the winter and beach towel in the summer. Plus, they're made locally in Los Angeles. Can it be more sustainable than that? Shop the blanket here.
