Louise Bourgeois
Louise Bourgeois was a force of nature. Her career as an artist spanned seven decades (longer than Picasso's) and she created until the day she died. Although her career was concurrent with many different art movements -- surrealism, abstraction, and minimalism to name a few-- Louise was single minded and never directly tied to any current art historical trends. Her works are imaginative, other-worldly, and even sometimes frightening but she always had a clear voice and vision and an incredibly creative one at that.
