As part of our bi-weekly series on sustainable materials, this week we’re talking about Eco Suede. This fabric is used on all of the linings of our belts, is the main material of our fringe bags, as well as Half Moon Bags in Blue and Black.
So what exactly is eco-suede and why is it sustainable? Well, our eco-suede is made from a combination of natural plant-based polyester and post-industrial recycled polyester that comes from film scrap. Plastic and petroleum based products can take up to a 1,000 years to decompose. By using this fabric, we are helping to divert plastic from the landfill and instead give it a new life in this beautiful, soft and sustainable suede.
This material is impressively easy to clean (just wipe with a damp cloth) and lasts years and years and years. If you’re looking for a bag that’ll last you many years to come, our half moons in black and ocean blue are both made from this high performance textile.
